Some partnerships start with a phone call. This one started with a grilled cheese sandwich.
For more than a century, Franz Bakery has been part of family tables across the Pacific Northwest. For more than a decade, they’ve also been helping families feel at home during some of life’s hardest moments through their support of Ronald McDonald Houses across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Montana, and Alaska.
While Franz had already been generously donating bakery products, a visit to the Portland Ronald McDonald House made the mission personal.
When members of the Franz team toured the House—and later brought their Grilled Cheese Machine to a community event—they experienced firsthand what it means to keep families close to the care their children need. That moment sparked an even deeper commitment.
Soon after, in 2019, Franz launched a meaningful annual initiative: featuring the Ronald McDonald House logo on their iconic Party Animal Cookies, paired with charitable giving that supports Houses throughout their distribution region. For each cookie bag sold, Franz donates a portion of the proceeds to a Ronald McDonald House® in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Montana, Utah, and Idaho.
Every week, Franz helps stock our pantry with fresh bread, bagels, donuts, and 24 to 30 packs of English muffins, filling four to six grocery bags at a time.
Those donations do more than fill shelves. They help families start the day with breakfast, prepare quick meals between hospital visits, and find comfort in something familiar during uncertain times.
Franz’s generosity extends far beyond the weekly grocery pick-ups.
Over the years, they’ve hosted holiday food drives, supported Pack the Pantry campaigns in Franz Outlet stores with in-store promotional materials, invited customers to round up at the register, raising funds, donated Party Animal Cookies for families’ holiday bags, brought their food truck to community events, and made philanthropic contributions that help keep our Houses running.

Each year, RMHC serves thousands of families through housing, meal programs, and supportive services.
