Seattle Guest Questions & Answers

There is no cost ($0) to stay at our Seattle Ronald McDonald House. Medicaid payments are accepted, and donations are always greatly appreciated. No family will ever be turned away based on their ability to contribute.

Seattle Children’s Hospital is within a 10-minute walk from the House. Transportation is provided between the House and the hospital with different availability for daytime, evenings, and weekends. Additional information is available at our Seattle House front desk.

We have a campus of three buildings, Houses A, B, and C. Most of our families stay in Houses A and C.

Rooms in House A have two queen-size beds and can sleep up to six people. Rooms in House C have two twin beds and can sleep up to four people. Our Housing Administrator works with families to ensure they are placed in rooms that can fit the anticipated number of residents. In both houses, the rooms also feature a private bathroom, closet space and dresser, television/DVD, telephone with direct phone number and internet access.

House B has 10 self-sufficient apartments reserved for families with children who have received a bone marrow transplant.

Seattle House A and House C each have a communal kitchen and pantry of non-perishable foods that are offered for free to all families. Each family has refrigerator and cupboard space where personal food can be stored. Outside volunteer groups regularly visit the House to make dinners for the families.

Yes, each house has a free laundry room available for families that is also stocked with detergent. Towels, blankets, and other linens are provided; however, families are responsible for laundering them. Families are also welcome to bring their own linens if they prefer.

When a room becomes available for your family, a Housing Administrator will contact you to schedule a time for your family to check in (sometime between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily). When you arrive, staff will request a photo ID for all adult guests staying in your room and a safety check for each adult if not yet completed. The House Manager will then review the House Rules, ask you to agree to the rules by signing the appropriate paperwork and then they will provide a tour of the House.

Prior to check in, all families are screened for symptoms of cold, flu, Covid, or other communicable diseases. Because we house patients with compromised immune systems, we strongly encourage all guests to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and the flu. Should any guests develop symptoms while staying at the House, we ask that you keep isolated in your room and speak with a House Manager who works closely with the hospital’s Infection Prevention team.

To ensure the highest level of health and safety for all families staying at our Houses, we ask everyone to follow these rules:

In these circumstances, families are required to have two or more adults staying with their family or a safety plan to ensure siblings are supervised while at the House.
