Care Kits

Nothing brings joy quite like opening a bag filled with treats, toys, and other delightful surprises. Parents and caregivers often take these kits to their child in the hospital or save them for crucial moments of distraction after a long day.

We are thankful for community members who understand the importance of small acts of generosity in brightening the lives of the children staying at the House.

Need Care Kit ideas?

There are many types of care kits that can benefit the children and families staying at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House. Here are some ideas for your group to explore.

General Kit Guidelines

Treats

  • Non-perishable only.
  • Individually wrapped.
  • If including baked goods, they must be commercially made and factory sealed in individual servings (nothing homemade, please).
  • If including anything with known common allergens (nuts, for example), please label the outside of the bag with this information.

Toys and other items

Please avoid slime, glitter, and toys that fly (we have so much trouble with cleaning up and or rescuing these!).

Safety precautions: Over half the children at the House are under the age of five. Do not include latex balloons, hard candies, or other choking hazards.

How many?

It’s up to you to decide. We consistently have 105 families in residency and can base our distribution of the bags on how many you provide–whether it’s one or two in front of every door or a smaller number featured at strategic “pick up” places in our buildings. No matter the number of bags you provide, all will be appreciated and enjoyed.

Personalizing the Bags?

We are unable to share names or other information about our families.
