As a former resident of the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle, I know firsthand how life-changing an organization like this can be. Because of the Ronald McDonald House, I was able to focus on what mattered most—my son’s cancer treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
When doctors told us we needed to stay close to the hospital, the Ronald McDonald House became so much more than a place to stay. During our year-long stay, I never had to worry about where we would live, how we would afford meals, or how to create a sense of home during such a difficult time. Instead, I could devote my energy to caring for my son while we found moments of comfort, hope, and normalcy together.
When we left the Ronald McDonald House, I made a promise to myself that I would find a way to give back and help other families facing the same challenges. I knew from experience that every act of kindness—no matter how small—could make an enormous difference.
Kilts for Kids is the perfect opportunity to fulfill that promise. Every year, the funds raised through this incredible event go directly toward supporting families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, giving them one less thing to worry about during an incredibly difficult journey. It is both an honor and a privilege to be part of a fundraiser that has such a meaningful impact on the lives of so many families.
