Seattle, WA, April 1st, 2024 — At Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Western Washington & Alaska, we’re thrilled to mark four decades of commitment to families with seriously ill children. Since our humble beginnings in 1983, we’ve been a beacon of support, offering families a comforting haven as they navigate the complexities of medical challenges.
For 40 years, we’ve stood by families, providing them with not just free housing but also the warmth of community and the resources they need to focus on their children’s well-being. What started as a modest 20-room facility for pediatric oncology patients has blossomed into 105 rooms in Seattle and an additional 34 rooms in Anchorage, extending our support to families across different medical journeys.
Beyond providing a roof over their heads, we’ve introduced various support programs for our residents, including meal programs, essential supplies like toiletries and pantry items, and activities to bring joy and togetherness while they are at the House. Throughout the past 40 years, RMHC Seattle has been privileged to touch countless lives, offering solace and strength in times of adversity.
“As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we’re reminded of the incredible journey we’ve been on and the countless families we’ve had the honor of supporting,” shared Deniz Satir, our dedicated Executive Director. “This milestone speaks volumes about the resilience of our community and the boundless support we’ve received from our amazing volunteers, donors, and partners.”
To commemorate this significant milestone, RMHC has some exciting events planned for the upcoming year. From fundraising drives to community outreach programs and special commemorative activities, we’re gearing up to celebrate our past achievements while laying the groundwork for continued service to our community.
Looking forward, RMHC remains steadfast in our commitment to our core values of compassion, community, and unwavering support for families in need. Our 40th anniversary is a testament to the enduring impact of collective generosity and the profound strength of a community united in times of adversity.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our key partners, including Seattle Children’s Hospital, McDonald’s USA and the local Owner Operators in Western Washington & Alaska, and the Alaska Native Medical Center, whose support has been instrumental in our journey.
